It’s time to meet Team Gigi’s! We’re officially introducing our incredible crew to you, sharing more about their role, their heart for serving animals and others, and a few fun facts along the way.
Allow us to introduce Carrie Pratt, MS, Director of Operations at Gigi’s. In her role Carrie oversees all of the day-to-day functions at our campus, which includes leading our veterinary, animal care, and shelter partner liaison teams, managing our +13 organizational partnerships, and orchestrating our adoption readiness program.
With more than 25 years of experience in animal welfare, Carrie is passionate about not only working with animals, but also improving their care and well-being. After earning her graduate degree, she jumped into the field working at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where she originally called home. Before joining Gigi’s in 2019, Carrie most recently served as a Curator at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium where she led the care of a variety of animals, from corals, fish, and sharks to moose, wolves, and polar bears.
Carrie says that one of the most rewarding parts of her role now is developing relationships with our Shelter and Adoption Center Partners that not only improve the lives of shelter dogs, but also strengthen our entire sheltering network.
“By collaborating and working together, we’re not only able to improve the lives of the dogs we care for, but also help improve the sheltering community as a whole,” she said.
Carrie enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and their rescue dog Quimby. She is also a self-proclaimed movie junkie and loves to bake and decorate fancy cakes. In fact, if she weren’t working at Gigi’s, her dream job would be to open her own bakery.
We’re grateful for Carrie and her leadership at Gigi’s as we continue to improve the lives of shelter dogs!
